What Would I Change About My City? The Transportation System!

Human population has increased rapidly in the last decades, and the current transportation systems fail to satisfy the needs of people who live in the city. In megapolises, millions of cars use the streets and thereby increase the traffic, under those circumstances, people spend more time in cars. Hence, I would build more metro lines in order to meet the needs of people, if I had a chance to change something about my city.

The population of the cities has increased. And as a result of that, the more people that use the streets which are designed for lesser people have increased the traffic. For example, I live in a city whose population is more than 15 million - which simply means that the city is more crowded than Greece. And the current metro lines fail to satisfy the demand of people. And Istanbul is on the top of the list that “The Cities Where The Drivers Spend The Most Time Stuck In Traffic”. Consequently, more metro lines need to be built in order to spend less time in the traffic.

The fact that people spend their times in a car every day creates a high amount of wasted time. People could've spent this time to do other things. For instance, a person who has free time to do things s/he likes can be happier. And according to a research, happy people tend to do their works better. In the end, it's better for both the people and the country. In this regard, building more metro lines and encouraging people to use metro lines are important.

Metro is the most comfortable transportation. Moreover, it’s fast and useful. Even in the busiest hours, the fact that it moves faster than a regular bus makes it a better option. For instance, I don’t mind when I use the metro in the busiest hours, because it will take 30 minutes to arrive where I want to go. Hence, it’s the most useful transportation from the viewpoint of speed and comfort.

In conclusion, people, who live in big cities, spend most of their times on the way. This simply means they spend most of their times for nothing. And this might lead them to a state of unhappiness. Hence, if I could, I would build more metro lines in order to help people to save their times to do more useful things.
