Body Positivity: “All bodies are beautiful”

Recently, there's a movement which we've seen everywhere: “BODY POSITIVITY”. In my opinion, patriarchal and the capitalist system created the binaristic structure: “the ideal body” vs. “others”. This system began to impose this binaristic discourse on us through the media. Thus, we started to see smooth white skins, bright-long-healthy hairs, legs without cellulite, thin waists, small hips, big breasts, heterosexual people etc. everywhere. People with the features I mentioned in the previous sentence were coded as the "ideal" ones. And those who do not have these features also became "others". At this point, a feminist movement was created: “Body Positivity”. According to body positivity movement, it is emphasized that all bodies are unique and beautiful. Namely, we do not have to have these "ideal(?)" features which are imposed on us. The ideal one changes according to time and space.

**Additionally, it is important to say that this movement does not only include the bodies of women but also men, transsexuals, whites, blacks and so on.**

I want to continue with the best known example: There is a fat person. This person does not love her/his own body and wants to be the “ideal” one and so starts to diet. This person gives up after a few days and s/he starts to eat more than her/his old one and gets more weight. As a result of this, s/he becomes an unhealthy person and so s/he hates from herself/himself again. Nothing changes. However, if the same fat person loves her own body with her/his own imperfections, s/he starts to eat healthy foods and to sport. As a result of this, her/his own body loves her/him more and so s/he starts to lose weight… This happens in consequence of body positivity movement.

Please do not forget this: we are all beautiful and unique with our imperfections. 😊
